"I have been given responsibility and that is why I am here. I have been involved with the North-East region since my student days when I came here in support of the Assam agitation."

To questions if his party had paid Rs 8 crores as alleged to poll ally AGP, Mittal said "Congress will make allegations against us.

"We will not comment on baseless allegations. BJP and AGP have allied to to win the 14 Lok Sabha seats from Assam and oust the Congress," he said.

He said modalities for campaign strategy would be worked out with the AGP.
