Latest scientific breakthrough: women are attracted to men who smell of other women. There are many things that this piece of ‘serious’ research tells us. One, scientific research has nosedived — and how. There seem to be too many mice-obsessed scientists in today’s world with too little left to discover between them. And that’s why the ratty bits of data these chaps come out with every now and then.
But let us, for a moment, give these scientists the benefit of doubt. So if women really have this extraordinary olfactory power to sniff out men who carry the scent of another woman on them, does that mean womankind is genetically programmed to be bisexuals — or lesbians — and we don’t know it as yet? Well, that would explain the sniffle after women get into heterosexual relations and realise that they really weren’t getting what they’d expected.
But then, again, there’s also that other path-breaking research, published by New Scientist several months ago, which established that women liked men who smelled like their dads. So which do we believe? Or is the real truth that women actually have a mother-fixation (since dads will, in most cases, smell of moms or, at least, of the Other Woman)? Never mind. The real truth that seems to come out of all these theories is: men stink.
