Newspapers failed to hit the stands in Manipur today following threat by two militant organisations.

A spokesman of the All-Manipur Working Journalists' Union said that two militant outfits wanted their statements to be published in the dailies.

The spokesman said the union has repeatedly appealed to militant outfits not to disturb the media, but to no avail.

An emergeny meeting of the general body of the union has been called today to discuss the situation.
