THE COMMITTEE set up by the Vidhan Parishad expressed dissatisfaction at the non-cooperative attitude of the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) officials, barring its vice-chairman. The committee was set up to look into the irregularities committed by various development authorities, municipal corporations and Zila Panchayats. Talking to mediapersons, chairman of the committee and MLC Om Prakash Sharma said, ?The KDA officials did not do any homework before presenting the facts to the committee.?

The committee was set up to look into the irregularities committed by various development authorities, municipal corporations and Zila Panchayats. Talking to mediapersons, chairman of the committee and MLC Om Prakash Sharma said, “The KDA officials did not do any homework before presenting the facts to the committee.”
He said till the time of holding of the press conference, the committee had taken up nine points of the agenda. However, in most of the cases, the KDA officials could not give any satisfactory reply, he said.
Sharma also said that the committee was surprised to know about the third category of land used by the KDA. The use of third category of land came to light for the first time, he added.
He said that till now, only two categories of land were known: residential and commercial. But they came to know about the third category of land, residential-cum-commercial. But the KDA officials could not elaborate how the rates for the same were being fixed. Irked at the officials’ approach, the committee gave 15 days’ time to the KDA officials and directed them to be present at the meeting to be in the State Capital, with proper homework.
Sharma said about nine points related to the land allotment were mainly discussed.
Referring to the attitude of the KDA officials, he said that barring the vice-chairman, none of the officials co-operated with the committee.
“The previous vice-chairman Anil Kumar did not co-operate with the committee,” he added. Sharma said that the report of the committee would be tabled in the House and the State Government would take action against the guilty officials.Besides, the chairman, the other members of the committee: Seema Rizvi, Swatantra Deo Singh, Shyam Nandan Singh, Jagveer Singh Jain, and Subhash Chandra Sharma were present on the occasion.
