Peace marches for harmony

DIFFERENT SOCIAL, political and cultural organisations and prominent dignitaries took out peace processions, padyatras, dharnas and cycle yatras in Varanasi on Sunday to protest against twin bomb blasts in the city on March 7 and to spread a message of communal harmony and brotherhood.

DIFFERENT SOCIAL, political and cultural organisations and prominent dignitaries took out peace processions, padyatras, dharnas and cycle yatras in Varanasi on Sunday to protest against twin bomb blasts in the city on March 7 and to spread a message of communal harmony and brotherhood.

Renowned literary personality Javed Akhtar, Swami Agniwesh and social worker Teesta Setalvad took out a padyatra to spread the message of harmony and brotherhood.

The padyatra was taken out from Malviya gate of Banaras Hindu University. After passing through several routes, it culminated at Chitranjan Park.The volunteers of Adarsha Bharatiya Sangh took out a symbolic funeral procession of terrorism from Sankat Mochan temple and after covering several areas, the procession culminated at Cantt railway station where they buried the symbolic dead body of terrorism in garbage.

The temple administration of Annapurna Temple conducted a ‘Dev-Yagya’ on the temple premises to offer prayers for peace to the souls of those killed in the blasts and for the speedy recovery of the injured.Local Chater of Bharat Vikas Parishad took out an all religion peace procession in the city today for peace to the departed souls. Volunteers of National Service Scheme of BHU took out a ‘cycle yatra’.
