Prakash Koirala was Science, Technology and Environment Minister in the handpicked cabinet formed by King Gyanendra after he seized power in February last year.

The nephew of the Prime Minister-designate GP Koirla, Prakash was removed from the party on Thursday along with with another former royalist minister Narayan Singh Pun.

Both of them have also been expelled from the party's ordinary membership, party sources said.

The party has taken action against the two members and send a letter to Parliament, they said, adding both will lose their seats when Parliament is reinstated on Friday.

The Speaker was also forced to resign over his "debatable" conduct during King Gyanendra's government.

Prakash Koirala has established a new party named Nepali Congress (Nationalist) and Pun is the chairman of Nepal Samata Party.

Earlier, various students organisations of Nepal called for a boycott of Manisha's films citing pro-monarch activities.
