City unit president of SP Zia-ul-Islam and senior party leader Kirtinidhi Pandey described Mayawati’s remark on Muslims as an insult to the community and said Muslims would not forgive BSP for this derogatory remark and would give a befitting reply in the upcoming assembly election.
They shouted slogans against Mayawati and said there was no difference between Bush, BSP and Mayawati and Pope. They were following the same line and adopting anti-Muslim postures, he added. They said Mayawati was misleading the Brahmins by alluring them for reservation in employment. The residents of Tiwaripur, Surajkund, Illahibagh and other areas criticised BSP and declared to launch a movement against BSP for anti-Muslim attitude.
They claimed that Mayawati’s comment had consolidated the Muslim vote bank in favour of SP and party would do better in upcoming assembly election. Meanwhile, BSP has called an emergency meeting of all party leaders in Lucknow to review the performance of the party in local body election.
In the meeting the impact of Mayawati’s remarks regarding Muslims would also be examined.
