Scholarship programme for diaspora children

The programme has been introduced by the ministry of overseas Indian affairs.

The ministry of overseas Indian affairs has introduced a scholarship programme for diaspora children to study at higher and technical institutions in India.

The Educational Consultants India Limited (Ed CIL), a government of India enterprise, is designated as the nodal agency for implementation of the scholarship programme.

Ed CIL will provide all assistance required before and after the admission. Each student admitted under the scholarship programme will be provided financial assistance up to $1,800 (Rs 80,000).

The last date for receiving completed application forms is March 31, according to a ministry press release.

The main objective of the scholarship programme is to make available India's highly developed higher education system to children of the Indian diaspora (PIOs, people of Indian origin, and NRIs, non-resident Indians) living in different countries.

The scholarship covers a wide range of subjects, including engineering, humanities, commerce, management, journalism, hotel management and agriculture.

The programme is applicable to undergraduate studies in professional and general courses (except medical and other related courses).

Interested candidates can submit completed application forms to the project manager, Educational Consultants India Limited, Ed.CIL House-18-A, sector-16-A, Noida-201 301 (India).
