Seven LS candidates file nomination papers in Orissa

Seven candidates for Lok Sabha & 85 aspirants for state assembly filed their nomination papers to contest the ensuing polls in Orissa.

Seven candidates for the Lok Sabha, including two BJP members of the dissolved House, and 85 aspirants for the state assembly filed their nomination papers today to contest the ensuing elections in Orissa.

BJP candidates Bikram Keshari Deo, Ananta Nayak and party national secretary Dharmendra Pradhan filed their papers to contest from Kalahandi, Keonjhar(ST) and Deogarh parliamentary constituencies respectively.

Deo and Nayak were members of the dissolved Lok Sabha.

Balgopal Mishra, who has been leading the demand for creation of a separate Koshal state, also submitted his papers to contest as an independent from the Balangir parliamentary constituency. A BJP member of the dissolved assembly, Mishra was denied the party ticket this time.

BJD candidate Tathagat Satpathy filed his documents from Dhenkanal Lok Sabha constituency.

Orissa's Minister for Commerce and Transport, Arabinda Dhali and Minister for Industries, K.V.Singh Deo, both BJP candidates for the assembly polls, filed their papers from the Malkangiri(SC) and Patnagarh constituencies.

Election office sources said no nomination form would be received tomorrow (because of Ram Navami) and April one (Utkal Divas).

March 31 is the last date for filing of nomination papers for the first phase election on April 20.
