Mohit Yadav, second-year student of a private engineering college in Farrukhnagar, had jumped into the canal from a culvert when his head hit a stone on his head. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Yadav’s relatives did not suspect any foul play, police officials said.

Postmortem revealed his head hit a blunt object.
