Temperatures in MP remain high

The consecutive weather systems that have prevented the wind direction from changing to northerly is being blamed on the high day and night temperatures across the State.
Presently, the wind pattern over Madhya Pradesh is westerly to south westerly and is pulling in warm winds from the Southern peninsula.
“The impact of snowfall in Northern India, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, is not being felt owing to this wind pattern,” director of the Regional Meteorological Centre, Dr D P Dubey told Hindustan Times in Bhopal. Until the wind pattern changes, drop in temperatures could not be expected, he added.
Both day and night temperatures all across the State have remained two to five degrees above normal all through the month of December and also through most part of November.
Day temperatures have remained around 29 to 32 degrees Celcius while night temperatures have hovered around the 15-degree mark in most parts of the State including capital Bhopal. The average minimum (night) temperature in Bhopal for the month of December is expected to be 10.2 degrees while the minimum to maximum temperature range should be from 10 to 26 degree Celcius. However, temperatures are quite a bit on the higher side than this at the moment.
During the last 10 years, minimum night temperature in Bhopal was recorded at 6 degrees on December 11, 1996. Similarly, the lowest minimum temperature ever recorded in the month of December in Bhopal was 3.1 degrees on December 11, 1966.On Saturday, Bhopal recorded maximum of 29.2 and minimum of 15.7 (five degrees above normal) while Indore recorded 29.8 and 13.4, Gwalior – 23 and 12.3 while Jabalpur recorded 28.9 and 16 degrees Celcius.
