At an event to be held in the Millennium City, more than 50 chief technology officers (CTOs) and chief information officers (CIOs), including those from the city, will be awarded in ten categories - IT, ITes/BPOs, telecom operators, telecom vendors, real estate, hospitals, consultancy, automobile, educational universities and media.

While former chief election commissioner of India SY Quraishi will be the guest of honor at the event, Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit Singh will hand over the awards to the winners.

Hitech founder member Pradeep Yadav said that the event would be a first-of-its-kind award ceremony dedicated to technocrats of both Indian and global firms.

"The world's best-known multinational firms will have representations at the ceremony. These firms include global brand names in the field of software and hardware development and telecommunication," said Yadav.

Hitec has been emphasising on increasing focus on cloud computing, surveillance solutions, collaborative applications, convergence of devices, applications and next-generation networks like 4G, etc.

The industry body is also working towards promoting wifi-enabled buses, metro trains and taxis; monitoring cyber attacks; networking; IT audit; lab certification; creating jobs and a converging contact centre to facilitate e-medicine and helping farmers. For this, Hitec is already in talks with the parliamentary standing committee on information technology headed by MP Singh.
