Trade Espresso: Kaash.. hit hote!
The year hasn’t exactly started off on an auspicious note. The first week had zero releases.
Vis-à-vis, the second week producer Rohan Sippy’s decision of pushing the release date of The President is Coming from December 9 last year to this Friday after the 26/11 incident proved to be prudent.. to an extent.
Since there is a shortage of new movies at the cinemas, the film found patronage among the multiplex audience for whom it was designed. It opened with a decent response in Mumbai but in other cities, the collections weren’t as encouraging.
Kaashh... Mere Hote! and Bad Luck Govind both opened to near-empty houses. Although they were released at few cinemas and multiplex screens, the response was extremely poor. The opening collections for both the films are between 5 and 10 per cent.
A R Murugadoss’s Ghajini maintained its collections in its second week. The producers are not leaving any stone unturned to promote the film as the biggest hit ever. All over the city, posters are making that claim, loud and clear.
A second party to celebrate its success is on tonight. This is somewhat unusual considering the fact that Aamir Khan has always been averse to success parties. And not many producers organise two parties to celebrate success.
