The move comes after HT highlighted the safety and security concerns of women commuters on that route in an intensive campaign over the past few weeks.

“We are reviewing the status after deploying private security guards at all Metro stations. The assistance of Noida Police has also been sought. If the situation demands, women guards will also be deployed,” said Rama Raman, chief executive officer of Noida authority.

On Monday, the authority deployed seven security guards each at the six Metro stations in the city to manage autos and rickshaws standing outside the stations.

The Noida Police assured that they would extend all possible support to the security guards.

“All the respective beat officials have been told to keep in touch with the security guards. The superintendent of police, (city) will monitor the coordination between the police and private guards. We will help these security guards in all possible manner,” said Praveen Kumar, senior superintendent of police, Gautam Budh Nagar.

Taking cognisance of the HT campaign on the safety and security concerns of women commuters, Raman had last month said that the authority would deploy 10 security guards at each of the six Metro stations in Noida.

Hindustan Times had carried a report, ‘Extra security for all 6 Noida Metro stations’, on January 31. The six stations are Sector 15, Sector 16, Sector 18, Botanical Garden, Golf Course and Noida City Centre.
