The victim, a Class 9 student at Nehar Public School, got burn injuries on her shoulder and back after some unidentified motorcycle-borne miscreant threw highly inflammable chemical powder on her.

The incident occurred at 7am when the girl, a resident of Chahtra Chaya Colony, was going towards her school bus stop.

As the incident occurred barely 20-feet away from her residence, her family members and other locals rushed her to a hospital nearby.

City superintendent of police Vikram Singh said Pithampur police have arrested a suspect and investigation is on. CSP Singh said the chemical in the form of powder is so concentrated that it damaged the school bus too. However, the nature of the chemical will be ascertained only after receiving a report from the forensic science laboratory.
