At least four post-mortems a day for 91 months non-stop! This sounds scary.

But, the feat has got Bharat Bajpayee, 49, in-charge of post-mortem house of Indore district hospital into the Limca Book of Records in 2011.

Believe it! He is still going on without a break, come stink, nausea or gory mutilation on the tray. But, he is not alone. His devotion to work inspired his two teammates who too have won the accolade for not taking leave till March 2011. They are Santosh Vankar and Gopal who work with Bajpayee at the post-mortem house. Their names too figure in the Limca Book of Records’ certificate. But, they started taking leave thereafter. However, Bajpayee goes on with the same passion.

Call it his dead honest devotion to work or an overriding passion to help police work out investigation, Bajpayee's leave-less work may force Guinness Book of World Records to spot him. "But I work for work's sake, not for records," says he, who hasn't availed himself of even government holidays till now. The doctor wishes to retire in 2026 with the same honour.

But why doesn't he take an off? "If I take a day off, then what will happen to the dead bodies?" He wonders.

His devotion has earned him praises from colleagues, police and family.

Civil surgeon of district hospital Satish Trivedi says, "He is an ideal for the department. We are proud of his devotion for the duty."

His son Apoorva Bajpayee says, "I am proud of my father who is working day and night for the common man of this country. He is a role model for many of us."

Not only this even the police officers are all praises for him as timely post-mortem reports help them resolve cases.

"There is no dilly-dallying in providing post-mortem reports. He is very humble and devoted towards his work," says city superintendent of police (CSP) Annapurana AH Ghuraiya.

Won't it tell on his health one day? Bajpayee says, "If you draw energy from your work, it doesn't give you killing stress. It rather refreshes you."
