Indore: Congress leaders celebrate birth anniv of Gandhi, Shastri

The city unit of the Congress celebrated the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. The party also organised various programmes to mark the day.

The city unit of the Congress celebrated the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. The party also organised various programmes in the city on Thursday to mark the day.

Congress workers oraginsed a sarv-dharm prathana sabha at Regal Square in front of the Gandhi statue to mark the International Non-Violence Day. They also paid tributes at the statue of Shastri.

City Congress president Pramod Tandon said that Mahatma Gandhi is not just a name, but an ideology. He said Gandhiji's role in freedom struggle is unforgettable and his path of non-violence has given a vision to the society and the country.

Local Congress MLA Jitu Patwari and Ashwin Joshi also addressed the programme. Various party office-bearers were present on the occasion.
