Chief minister Vasundhara Raje said that by rejecting the names of Ashok Gehlot, Sachin Pilot and CP Joshi and announcing himself as the face for the elections in Rajasthan, Congress national president Rahul Gandhi has proved that there is no deserving face for elections in Rajasthan.

She was addressing a public meeting at Choti Sadri in Pratapgarh district on Thursday. “By making Rahul as the face of the elections in Rajasthan, it is clear that the Congress is scared of the BJP and of defeat in the polls,” said Raje.

Taking a dig at Rahul, the CM said that once he had left for Madhya Pradesh on a motorcycle and started addressing a meeting at Nimbahera (in Chittorgarh district) thinking it to be Madhya Pradesh. “Now, such a leader will contest elections in the state, who does not know Nimbahera, Chittorgarh, Jhalawar and Kota are in which directions.”

Raje on Thursday laid the foundation stone and dedicated 16 works, worth Rs 67 crore, to the public.

The CM said that Rahul Gandhi is coming to Jaipur on August 11 and will pay his obeisance at Govind Devji and Moti Dungari Ganesh temple. “It is a good thing, but why did these temples come to his mind during the election. He has come to Jaipur earlier and has never gone to any temple,” she said. “The Congress is always raising questions about my temple visits, but it is a good thing that the BJP has taught Rahul to go to temples,” she added.

She also said that repeatedly changing the government hinders the development of a state, therefore, she appealed to the people to vote for the BJP.

Home minister Gulab Chand Kataria, higher education minister Kiran Maheshwari, urban development minister Shrichand Kriplani, BJP former state present Ashok Parnami, MP CP Joshi and other public representatives were present.

Reacting to Raje’s charges, Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president Archana Sharma said, “Chief minister Vasundhara Raje knows she will lose the election and that’s why she is giving such statements out of frustration. The Congress will be fighting the forthcoming assembly elections under collective leadership.”
