    Remembering the time

Michael, an MJ biopic directed by Antoine Fuqua, is set to release next year. Who’s playing the King of Pop? Jaafar Jackson, the King’s nephew. Reports say Jaafar sounds like MJ and dances like him too (Who’s Man in the Mirror now?). He made his debut with his single Got Me Singing in 2019. Can’t wait. Will you be there?

    Relating hard to Kristen Stewart

She’s apparently entered the f**k it phase of her career. Stewart spent five years trying to finance her feature-directing debut: The Chronology of Water. It’s based on the memoir by bisexual author Lidia Yuknavitch. Stewart directed the music video Take Me To The South for Sage + the Saints in 2014. Her short film Come Swim (2017) is pretty cool. Let’s read the book until then.

    Back to Y2K

Anushka Manchanda’s wedding last week featured, of all things, a Viva! Reunion. The Indian pop group that won Channel [V]’s Popstars in 2002 (and lasted longer in our memory than they did IRL), brought all the feels. There was no impromptu performance of Jaago Zara at the wedding, but the band did take a picture which seemed it was for more than just the ‘Gram.

    Stewing in kimchi

South Korea is offering a Hallyu visa for extreme K-culture fans. Any foreigner enrolled in a cultural academy there can stay on for two years under this visa. Live out your K-drama fantasies, stalk BTS politely, stay up all night with undubbed horror movies, learn Soju etiquette, drown in ramyun and buy enough Jeju ash to mask your soul.

    Feeling it twice

No spoilers here but Killer Soup, Ashishek Chaubey’s Netflix murder mystery, is the double-role series that breaks from every judwaa cliche. Thank Manoj Bajpayee’s brilliance. Konkona Sensharma is compelling as an accidently-on-purpose murderer. What shines through is the show’s obsession with good soup, and cooking.

    Chillin’ with the villain

French figure skater Adam Siao Him Fa added a banned backflip to his free skate routine at the 2024 ISU European Figure Skating Championships in Lithuania. It earned him a two-point deduction. But here’s his flex: He was already in the lead after three high-scoring quadruple jumps and a fall. He did so well, he won Gold anyway. Blade Runner 2024 for the win.
