Lok Sabha elections 2019: Crucial bypolls will decide fate of Goa government

In south Goa’s Cuncolim assembly constituency, the EVM was found to be adding votes to the BJP’s tally during a mock poll held before actual voting began, the Aam Aadmi Party’s South Goa candidate Elvis Gomes alleged.

Malfunctioning Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) caused an uproar as Goa went to polls for two Lok Sabha seats and three assembly constituencies (bypolls) on Tuesday. The state recorded a 73.88turnout. The state by-elections will decide the fate of the ruling BJP, which holds 14 seats in the 40-member assembly, with support of six other legislators.

In south Goa’s Cuncolim assembly constituency, the EVM was found to be adding votes to the BJP’s tally during a mock poll held before actual voting began, the Aam Aadmi Party’s South Goa candidate Elvis Gomes alleged.

District Electoral Officer Ajit Roy, ordered the replacement of the entire set of EVMs.
