Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter on Saturday to counter the Opposition’s campaign to oust him in the Lok Sabha elections.
In a short tweet, he asked citizens whether removing terrorism, poverty and homelessness was more important than the Opposition’s effort to remove him from power. He also questioned whether the Opposition basing their campaign on his removal pointed to intellectual bankruptcy.
On Saturday, Modi addressed four election rallies – one in Bengal, one on Bihar and two in Uttar Pradesh where he lashed out at the Trinamool Congress, Congress and the BSP-SP combine.
He has consistently maintained that the Opposition has no agenda other than removing him from power. He has stressed on national security and has regularly insisted that his government has adopted a tough approach against terror to keep the country safe while the previous UPA government had a vacillating approach and was soft on terrorism.
The Opposition maintains that Modi’s government has failed in all respects, particularly in dealing with the economy, farm distress and employment generation and that its policies are divisive.
