ABVP sweeps Agra varsity students’ poll

Two days after being routed in the Allahabad University Students’ Union polls, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) swept the election at Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar University of Agra.

Two days after being routed in the Allahabad University Students’ Union polls, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) swept the election at Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar University of Agra on Monday.

The ABVP candidates won the posts of president, vice-president general secretary and joint secretary. The library secretary’s post was bagged by an independent candidate.

Abhishek Mishra and Chandrajeet Yadav – both from ABVP – were elected president and general secretary, respectively.

Kritika Solanki of ABVP was elected vice-president while Kunal Diwakar won the joint secretary’s post, making it a near clean sweep for ABVP.

Independent candidate Chanchal Pandey won the election for the post of library secretary. The university recorded 44% voter turnout.

On Saturday, the Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha (SCS), the student wing of the Samajwadi Party, had swept the Allahabad University Student Union (AUSU) polls winning four out of five posts in the election.

While the SCS bagged the posts of president, vice president, joint secretary and cultural secretary, the ABVP could only win the post of general secretary. The ABVP is the student wing of the RSS-BJP.
