"Uttarakhand has a total debt burden of Rs 16,000 crore," he told reporters.

Khanduri was in the city to campaign for BJP candidates in the assembly polls slated to be held on Saturday.

He claimed that the people of Uttar Pradesh were fed up with successive BSP and SP regimes and were looking to the BJP to provide a clean and efficient administration.

Khanduri also claimed that the outcome of the recent assembly elections in Uttarakhand which saw BJP capturing power would have a ripple effect in UP polls.
