A 20-year-old man was killed and another was injured, after a slab collapsed in a shanty at Yusuf Meher Ali Road, Pydhonie on Sunday.

A part of the ceiling of a one-plus-one residential caved in at 1pm, killing Mohammad Ashraf Rehman.

The injured man has not been named by the officials and suffered minor injuries, said an official from the disaster management department.

Avinash Kanade, senior police inspector, Pydhonie police station, said, “We have registered a case of accidental death. We are conducting further investigations to determine if there was a case of negligence.”

“The slab fell on the victim’s head when he was asleep, resulting in immediate death,” said Kanade.
