The local train services on the Central Railway were disrupted during the morning peak hour on Friday owing to a rail fracture at Kalwa station at 9.14 am. The fracture was put back in place and the local train service was started by 9.35 am. However, the slow train services were delayed by 15 minutes throughout the day.

Another problem erupted on the Harbour line when a technical glitch occurred in a Panvel-bound local train at Cotton Green station in the morning. This also disrupted services as it took the railway authorities 20 minutes to rectify the issue. The repercussions of the glitch were witnessed throughout the afternoon with delayed services.

“I stay in Thane and was on my way to work in Parel in a slow local train. The train halted between Ghatkopar and Vikroli station and did not move for more than half an hour. I had to walk on the tracks till Ghatkopar station and then took a black-and-yellow taxi till Parel. As it was raining heavily, the traffic was very bad and I got stuck for another 20 minutes.” said Sonali Shinde, a marketing professional.

The services on Central and Western Railways have been affected throughout last week owing to rainfall and technical problems. Last week, while the WR services were disrupted after a motorman overshot a red signal on Dadar station, the Central and the Harbour railway services were disrupted owing to technical glitch in a local train last week at Matunga station.
