The state government has declared the schedule for the admission to first year junior college (FYJC) seats across the state. In a first, admission to bifocal courses will be done before other courses.

In bifocal courses, science students appear for a 200-mark technical paper in place of language and biology papers, which are for 100 marks each.

While students have already started filling the part 1 of the form, they will be able to fill the second part, which is marking preferences for college and courses, from Wednesday. They will get time till June 25 to fill the second part.

While the first merit list of bifocal courses will be out on June 21, the first regular merit list will be displayed on July 5.

Before the regular admissions rounds, a ‘zero round’ will be held for admission to fill quotas such as minority, in-house and management. There will be four rounds of admissions and four merit lists will be declared.

The junior colleges will be able to start classes after filling 70% of their seats. The colleges will be responsible for making up for the academic loss of rest of the students by putting in extra hours. After all four rounds are over, the students can apply for vacant seats of bifocal courses.
