Actor Salman Khan’s bodyguard Shera, who is accused of threatening a 31-year-old woman of gang rape, told the police on Wednesday that he was being falsely implicated in the case. The police officials, after recording Shera’s statement, said they will collect his voice samples to check if he was the one who called the woman.
The woman had submitted an audio clip from the phone call, in which a person had claimed that he was Shera and had threatened her of rape in October. She said the caller abused her and threatened to “gang-rape her in front of 10 people”. The police said they will send the sample to FSL.
In an FIR registered on October 20, the Khar-based businesswoman said she was threatened of gang rape for pursuing a case against Salman Khan. The woman claimed that she received a call from a man who claimed that he was Shera.
The police said the phone call was made from a public phone booth in Mahim and that makes it difficult to ascertain who made the call as several people use the booth. However, the police will take voice samples of Shera to find out if he was the one who had made the call.
The 31-year-old woman, who runs a garment business, a security company and an NGO to get legal help for people, alleged that she received the call 12 days after Zubair Khan approached her to get a case registered against Khan.
Zubair had been evicted from a reality TV show Khan hosts. He approached her on October 8 asking for her help in getting an FIR registered against the actor. “Zubair told me that [Khan] had threatened him. I told him I would help,” the woman told police in her complaint.
