Police found that the gunman, Dhamrvijay Chandu Shedge, was staying in Dombivli for the past month. Once they got a tip-off, they laid a trap and arrested him.
A police officer from Dombivli police station said, “We formed a team and started patrolling the area. We caught hold of a man who was trying to hide himself and took him to the police station for questioning. He confessed to knowing the whereabouts of Shedge.”
A couple of months ago, Shedge and four of his associates robbed of 15kg of silver and half a kilogram of gold at Nashik. While the Nashik arrested the accomplices, Shedge managed to give the slip.
The Dombivli police also found out that Shedge was wanted in a case of extortion by the Thane anti-extortion cell. They are currently looking into other possible cases in which he might be involved.
Shedge was handed over to Nashik police and after investigation he will returned to the custody of Dombivli police.
