After the murder of Sheena Bora, Peter Mukerjea had made several attempts to dissuade his son Rahul from searching for Sheena. Peter had told Rahul that Sheena was unhappy with the relationship and wanted move out and that’s why she left him. He also told Rahul later in the e-mail trails to stay away from Sheena’s family. Also, Rahul was threatened by both Indrani and Peter.
The supplementary charge sheet filed by CBI on Friday included 61 pages containing several e-mails exchanged before and after the death of Sheena Bora between the father and son showing how Peter convinced Rahul to move on with life and stop looking for Sheena.
Claimed to be as one of the longest e-mails in his life, on May 29, 2012 Peter wrote to Rahul that Sheena had contacted Indrani and sorted their differences in early 2012. “…Sheena and Indrani talked on the phone a few times and then met when Indrani had gone to Mumbai when Sheena said that she was unhappy with you not doing anything constructive career wise although you were very nice to her and always looked after her etc but she needed more than just that,” read the e-mail.
It further stated, “…I only knew that Sheena was unhappy in the relationship and wanted out or was being forced out, but I did not know the details of when, how etc she was going to make her move. Because I did not want to know. I simply said that if she is going to leave you then she should at least tell you so. I suggested that she writes a letter or email you or something like that.”
Via e-mails, Peter had also told Rahul that Sheena’s family – her grandparents from Guwahati were pressurising to Sheena to break up with Rahul and that they were ready to go to any extent for it to happen. “There was a lot of pressure from the family in Guwahati and in India, as I’ve told you before, families can do things to get their girls out of situations and in didn’t want anything to turn out ugly for you and also I didn’t want to get into the details. In any case the Guwahati people all believed that I was supporting you and encouraging you all the way,” read the e-mail written by Peter to Rahul on May 29, 2012.
Later, on 19 June 2012, the father and the son exchanged a series of e-mails where Peter asked Rahul to change his mobile number. “I am aware that you were called this morning and a text message was sent to you, as a final warning asking you to lay off their family matters. Mikhail had called to say the same thing,” read Peter’s e-mail. Rahul, however, suspected that it was Indrani who was behind the show and said the same in his response to Peter.
On the same day, 19 June 2012, Rahul wrote an e-mail to Sheena at 4:04 am asking about her whereabouts and said that he has been threatened by Peter and Indrani. “P and I are still giving me bakwas and warning me about being shot or beaten up!?... I hope I hear from you.. or someone does and they tell me!!” read the e-mail.
