Harbour line commuters had a tough time travelling on Sunday due to the implementation of a mega block between Nerul and Mankhrud, resulting in suspension of all services between Panvel and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) from 11.30am to 3.30pm.

Complaining about the inconvenience the commuters from Navi Mumbai faced, Mali Naik said, “The only reliable connectivity we have between Navi Mumbai and Mumbai is train. Since there were no services on Sunday, we had to change our plan of visiting our relatives. The railways should coordinate with state transport (ST) and must provide people with the options of busses.”

Some commuters suggested that instead of implementing blocks during the day, maintenance work should be carried out during nighttime so that people can travel freely. “There are hardly any office-goers on Sundays. So barring early morning trains, railway can extend their night blocks and keep services operational for the rest of day,” said Rohan Desai, Kharghar resident.
