The Dahanu forest department caged the cub with the help of animal activist Dhawal Kansara. It is currently undergoing treatment in the forest department office at Bordi.
The leopard cub was found panting in a corner of a hut belonging to Sonu Thakur of Kandipada in Achchad, Talasari on Saturday morning. Thakur had returned home after answering nature’s call when he noticed the cub inside the house. “He rushed out immediately and contacted the village sarpanch who in turn informed us,” said Nanasaheb Ladkat, deputy conservator of forest, Dahanu division.
He added, “It is undergoing treatment at the forest department office at Bordi as it is in a state of trauma and is refusing to even drink water.”
The officials are planning to release the cub in Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Borivli.
