MUMBAI: A biker molested a woman in Goregaon (west) on Wednesday afternoon when she was walking along the road.

The woman fought back but the biker sped away after which she alerted the Mumbai police.

The incident took place in Pragati Nagar at M.G Road in Goregaon west.

The unidentified biker travelling on a black coloured motorbike allegedly slowed down his bike next to the woman when she was walking on the road.

“A perv on bike slowed his bike and pinched me on my upper body. As I tried to hit him with my bag, saw his bike number only 2572 (sic),” the woman tweeted to the official handle of the Mumbai police on Twitter.

The accused was wearing a blue shirt and a helmet and was carrying a backpack, she said while alerting the authorities.

While the accused was speeding away, the woman raised an alarm and a few passersby tried to stop him, but he managed to escaped.

The victim then called the Mumbai police helpline number 100.

“I called at 100 but the lady who picked up, dropped the call,” the woman told authorities on the social media handle.

“Was I wearing any provocative clothes to incite molestation on a public road in afternoon? Thought Mumbai was safer,” the woman posted after the incident.

While the Mumbai police’s social media page promised to initiate action, at the time of going to the press, an officer from the Goregaon police said they have not received any formal complaint regarding the incident.
