10 bikes, 6 cycles gutted in late night fire at Kalyan

Ten motorcycles and six bicycles were destroyed in a fire at Kolsewadi, Kalyan late on Sunday night. Local residents and police suspect unidentified arsonists to be behind the fire.

The two-wheelers were all parked near Bhagyashree Apartments in Masoba chowk. Residents claim the incident took place around 2.30am. Said Manoj Aher, a resident of the building: "Some of my neighbours saw the fire and alerted the others. We called the fire brigade and rushed to douse the fire. But by the time the fire was put off, the two-wheelers were charred".

Police have registered a case against unidentified persons and three different teams are working on the case. Police inspector Jagdish Lohalkar of the Kolsewadi police station said they were confident of cracking the case.

Though clueless about the culprits, local residents are also keen on tracking the arsonists.
