The witness, a Pune resident, denied knowing contents of his statement recorded by the Anti-Terrorism Squad. “The prosecution had claimed that the witness was a member of Students Ismalic Movement of India and that while on his trip to Pakistan, accused Faisal Shaikh had filled a visa application to Pakistan in his presence,” said advocate Abdul Wahab Khan. “The witness said his oral statement was never read out to him by the police, after recording.”

On Wednesday, a witness in the case was declared hostile after he alleged the ATS had illegally detained him and coerced him to give a statement.
