8 injured after train overshoots platform

At least eight commuters suffered minor injuries after train overshot and crashed into iron panels, which indicate dead end, as it pulled into Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) on Sunday.

At least eight commuters suffered minor injuries after train overshot and crashed into iron panels, which indicate dead end, as it pulled into Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) on Sunday.

Officials said the Dombivli-CST semi-fast local rammed in to the buffer around 9.31am at platform no 4.

The Central Railway (CR) has ordered an inquiry into the incident to ascertain the exact cause.

Witness said the passengers were flanged forward by the impact of the collision, suffering minor injuries. The injured include five men and three women.

“The passengers were administered first aid at the St George’s Hospital and discharged soon,” said AK Singh, Public Relation Officer from CR.

AB Purohit, the motorman of the train escaped without any injuries. “No complaint has been registered so far,” said an official from the government railway police.
