Nazar Siddique had moved the court for bail stating that the police had shot at him without any provocation and that he was not part of the mob.
Additional public prosecutor, Usha Kejariwal, on Monday argued before justice AM Thipsay that Siddique had actively participated in the mob violence and the police resorted to firing as the mob did not disperse.
Kejariwal also stated that it was yet to ascertain who fired the bullets as some of the mob members had snatched two self-loading rifles (SLRs) from the police. Besides, the accused had also given contradictory statements as to where he was going at the time of the incident, she argued.
The court has adjourned the hearing till October 23.
