While one bus was torched, the windshield and windows of the others were broken. The undertaking has estimated a loss of around Rs. 5 lakh. The buses are not insured and the undertaking will have to incur the cost, unless protestors are booked.
“With the help of drivers and conductors, we’ll find out the areas in which buses were targeted and register complaints at concerned police stations,” said Ashok Patil, chairman, BEST committee. Committee member Sunil Ganacharya said: “The attack on buses should be taken seriously as it could have put passengers in danger.”
The damaged buses will be repaired and restored within a couple of days. The undertaking said frequency of services would not be affected.
