Bhojpuri actor Anil Samrat was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly firing a round in the air to threaten the employees of a studio in Amboli on Tuesday night. No one was injured in the incident.
Samrat was booked under the Arms Act because he did not have licences either for the Mauser pistol, which he had used, or for another pistol that was recovered from him. He was also charged with attempt to murder.
On Tuesday, at 10.30pm, Samrat, who was allegedly drunk, went to Krushna Audio Vision Studio in Skytek building to demand that the owner, Krushnakumar Gupta, repay a loan. “Gupta had borrowed Rs1 lakh from Samrat, but had repaid only Rs60,000,” said R Kane, assistant inspector of the Amboli police station.
“We suspect Samrat was drunk when he went to the studio. When the three employees, who were present in the studio, told him that Gupta was not there, Samrat whipped out a pistol, placed it on the temple of one of employees and then fired a round in the air,” said Kane.
After Samrat left, the shaken employees called up Gupta and narrated the incident.
Gupta then filed a complaint with the Amboli police, who detained the actor on Wednesday morning.
