A 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly murdering a police constable on Thursday.

The deceased Suresh Nana Gaiwane, 35, was murdered by his friend Jagdish Warule, 23, after an argument broke out between them, said the police. The incident took place around 2.30am at Masoba Chowk, near Saket Tower, Kolsewadi, Kalyan (East).
When Gaiwane returned from his duty, he met Warule and they decided to have a few drinks together at Prashant Bar, said the police.
“The bar shut at 12.30am following which the duo came out and during the course of the conversation Gaiwane made loose remarks about Warule’s sister which incensed him. In a fit of rage, the accused hit Gaiwane with a big stone,” said inspector S R.Thomber.
The police received information about the body lying near Saket tower around 4.30am. Gaiwane was rushed to Rukmani Hospital in Kalyan and later shifted to Sion hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
The locals and manager of the bar told the police about the night’s events following which Warule was arrested from his residence. Warule has admitted to the crime. Gaiwane was attached with the Dharavi police for the last eight months. He is survived by his wife and two children.
