Cyber cell to probe 'inciting' SMS to police

Concerned about the text message trying to instigate police personnel against the force and the government for not bringing the perpetrators of the Azad Maidan violence to justice, the Marine Drive police will take help from the cyber crime cell to locate the origin of the SMS.

Concerned about the text message trying to instigate police personnel against the force and the government for not bringing the perpetrators of the Azad Maidan violence to justice, the Marine Drive police will take help from the cyber crime cell to locate the origin of the SMS.

On Saturday, a case was registered against unknown persons at the Marine Drive police station.

"Although the message was received by several policemen, we don't know the number from which it originated. Hence, we will take the help of the Cyber Crime Cell," said C Pawar, assistant inspector, Marine Drive police stations. Officials claimed that the special branch 1 would conduct a parallel probe.
