A eunuch allegedly stole a licensed revolver and Rs 40,000 cash from a Mira Road based builder.
A eunuch allegedly stole a licensed revolver and Rs 40,000 cash from a Mira Road based builder. The complainant Irfan Khan (30) gave a lift to the accused on Tuesday thinking her to be a ‘lady’ in dire need to reach her destination.
Khan alleged that the incident happened on the Link Road in Malad as a sari-clad lady in her thirties signaled for a lift, said a police official requesting anonymity as he is not authorised to speak with the media. She requested him to drop her on the road to Charkop, as she was unable to find an autorickshaw.
The police said Khan agreed to drop her but later asked her to get down at a traffic signal when he realised she was drunk. “He later realised that a bag containing his licenced revolver and Rs 40,000 which was kept in front, was missing,” added the official.
When Khan questioned the shopkeepers of the area, he learnt that the person to whom he had given the lift was not a women but an eunuch. A case of theft has been registered at the Charkop police station.
The police are drawing a sketch of the accused and questioning the eunuchs residing in the western suburbs. More then 20 eunuchs have been questioned.
Khushbu, a eunuch said, “We eunuchs never indulge in such acts. It’s the duplicates (those who impersonate as eunuchs - mostly males) who do it.”
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Banerjee said, “The case is under investigation. Any information shared at this juncture with the media may hamper the investigation”.
