Paes had a filed a guardianship petition at the family court a few months ago, seeking permanent custody of his daughter. The estranged couple have been fighting for the custody of their eight-year-old daughter.

In his complaint to the Bandra Kurla Complex police, Paes said that he had submitted documents before the court that prove the relationship between Pillai and Atul Sharma. This angered Sharma, who then allegedly threatened Paes at the court on Tuesday.

“Paes approached us on Thursday and following his allegations, a case has been registered under Section 506(2) (criminal intimidation) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) against Sharma,” said Kundalik Nigade, senior inspector at BKC police station.

“We will check the CCTV footage at the court where the incident allegedly took place. We will also call Sharma to the police station to record his statement and verify the facts.”
