Making a fresh demand for the setting up of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe 2G and CWG scams, senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday sought to know the reason behind the UPA's objection to the same.
"What objection the Congress-led UPA Government have over constituting the JPC to investigate 2G spectrum and CWG scams? Is it against the Constitution or the Parliamentary rules?" Naidu asked while speaking to reporters in Mumbai.
"Is it against precedents in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha," he said, adding, "Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi had demanded to constitute the JPC when in opposition. Then, what is wrong with it now."
Criticising the Government for various scams, Naidu said never before in the history of the country have such massive corruption cases taken place. The BJP leader also asked as to why did the Prime Minister remain silent over allocation of 2G spectrum and did not order the then Telecom minister A Raja to bring the issue before cabinet.
Reacting on Income Tax Appellate Tribunal's (ITAT) order on Bofors case, Naidu said why is the Congress not speaking on the issue which has shamed the nation. Meanwhile, Naidu said BJP is organising a rally on January 16 in the city to protest against all the scams and taking the issues before the public.
