Police custody of alleged Simi member extended

The special Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) court at Mazgaon remanded an alleged member of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and Indian Mujahideen (IM) to judicial custody till October 14 on Friday.

The accused Haroon Rashid Abdul Hamid Naik, 33, was arrested in connection with counterfeiting and distributing fake currency allegedly printed in Pakistan. He was found in possession of fake currency worth Rs80,000.

Last week, the court extended the police custody of Haroon’s co-accused Asrar Ahmed Abdul Hamid Tailor alias Sagri till October 3.
