Shailesh Sharma, director general of the institute, had recently declared that Dr Joshi, former chief information commissioner (CIC) is likely to be appointed as the advisor. This announcement was made in the presence of RTI activists in Pune. They have sent letters to Sharma and CM Chavan opposing the likely appointment. “As a CIC, he had not implemented RTI in totality and with his alleged involvement in Adarsh scam, I don’t think, he should be appointed,” said Mohammed Afzal, one of the petitioners. Joshi was urban development secretary when initial clearances were obtained for the society.
