According to BMC’s data, out of the total notices, 4,683 were issued in May and June.

BMC officials inspect buildings for mosquito breeding spots to curb vector-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria, which sees a spurt during monsoons.

Around 217 dengue cases and 2,595 cases of malaria have been reported this year.

“We first send warnings to buildings and residents. We then send a notice if the residents ignore the breeding sites even after the repeated warnings,” said Dr Rajan Naringrekar, city’s insecticide officer.
