The enforcement wing was formed in 2007 and the prime responsibility of this wing was to act against all kinds of encroachments on government land.

Noida authority chief executive officer Alok Tandon on Tuesday scrapped the enforcement wing that had the job of acting against encroachments on government land. The charge of acting against squatters is now with circle officers and project engineers of the authority under whose jurisdiction the encroached land falls.

“We have taken the decision of scrapping the enforcement wing because the circle officer or project engineers will do a better job in their respective areas as they keep monitoring all activities in their circles. Now, around 80 employees working the enforcement wing will go back to their respective departments,” RK Mishra, additional chief executive officer of the Noida authority, said.

Project engineer Atul Kumar, who was heading the enforcement wing, will now work as a project engineer. Noida is divided in 10 circles and each circle has at least one circle officer and a project engineer to take care of all jobs, such as road repair, sewage maintenance or other civic amenities.

“Along with other responsibilities, circle officers and project engineers will take care of encroachments,” Mishra said.

The CEO also reshuffled the departments of two additional chief executive officers (ACEOs).

Ashok Kumar Shrivastava, ACEO who heads commercial and residential plot section wings will also head the group housing department that deals with the builder projects.

ACEO Atal Kumar Rai, who was heading the group housing departments, will head other departments except group housing department in the Noida authority.
