Emotionally beaten by her failing health, failed love, social alienation and academic stress, a young MBA student killed herself in Noida. Her body was discovered on Wednesday morning.

A student of Amity University, Tanu Malik, allegedly committed suicide at her apartment in Amrapali Sapphire in Sector 45. According to the police, the 25-year-old was a native of Dehradun in Uttarakhand and shifted to Noida with her mother to pursue higher education. Malik had enrolled for an MBA in marketing this year.

“Her mother found her hanging to ceiling of her room on Wednesday morning, after which she informed the police control room about the incident,” police said.

“Her mother was asleep in another room, when she committed suicide. Malik’s mother found her body when she entered her room on Wednesday morning to wake her up,” said Abhinandan, circle officer-1, Noida, adding that the police were informed around 7am.

A handwritten suicide note was recovered from Malik’s apartment.

The note indicates that she committed suicide after the man she loved refused to marry her. Further investigation revealed that she was also suffering from a medical condition that has started affecting her looks.

“We recovered a suicide note from her room. In the note, Malik indicates that she was under severe stress, and mentioned a man whom she loved and wanted to marry. She was upset after he refused to marry her,” the police official said.

However, she does not blame the man for her actions, he said.

“It is evident from her suicide note that the man did not abet Malik’s suicide, but we have asked the man to cooperate in investigation process,” Abhinandan said.

Malik’s mother told the police that she had started losing her eyebrows and was taking medication for the same.

In April this year, her boyfriend had forsaken her due to her medical condition, police said quoting the mother, adding that her friends at the college had also started distancing themselves from her because of her medical condition.

Meanwhile, she had also not performed very well in her semester exams.

In her suicide note she mentioned that nothing in her life was going well and she blamed her medical condition for it. The note reads that she had been feeling very lonely and depressed since April. Malik in her suicide note apologised her mother for taking such extreme step.

A case has been registered and her body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
