A 50-year-old man was killed and two others were injured when the SUV they were travelling in crashed into the central verge on Yamuna Expressway in Kasna, Greater Noida, on Wednesday evening.

The accident took place around 6.30 pm when a speeding grey-coloured Vitara Brezza lost its balance and crashed into the central verge. Three members of a family were travelling in the vehicle towards Greater Noida from Ghaziabad.

Uday Singh (50), from Vasundhara in Ghaziabad, was declared dead on arrival at Kailash Hospital in Greater Noida. His nephew Gaurav Singh (26) and brother Jugal Kishore (48), both residents of Vasundhara in Ghaziabad, were injured.

“We received information that a speeding car had met with an accident on the expressway. Uday was driving the car when it hit a divider. A police team rushed the victims to the nearby Kailash Hospital in Kasna, Greater Noida. However, Uday was declared dead on arrival by the team of doctors,” Aajad Singh Tomar, station house officer, Kasna police station, said.

The police said the body was sent for an autopsy and no case was registered in the matter.

“We have also towed the vehicle from the accident spot and handed it over to the victims’ kin,” Tomar said.

Hospital authorities said that the other two victims are out of danger.

“While Gaurav was discharged after first aid, Jugal is still under observation at our general ward as he complained of chest pain. Both the victims are out of danger,” a staff member of Kailash Hospital said.
