Surprisingly, the police outpost in Sector 18 is just 100 metres away from the wine shop.

Locals complain that the city police have failed to take action against the drunken men, who often create nuisance in the public.

The Sector 18 market comes alive at night with families spending quality time dining out. But when they pass by the wine shop, women scurry past hurriedly as there are inebriated youths making them feel insecure.

An HT team on Sunday night found several people drinking in the open at nearby snack stalls. Around 10.30 pm, a PCR van passed by without disturbing the tipplers and stationed itself 50 metres away. Police officials say they are not aware of the issue. “I’m unaware of the situation. We will investigate into it and punish the offenders,” said Shivram Yadav, DSP.
